A development may already have a client and design team on board to oversee its start, but it is also necessary to bring in competent civil engineering specialists. It is crucial to review construction proposals from an engineering perspective as well as an aesthetic one, as this will determine whether the proposed ideas are viable and safe, as well as if the construction can be completed to the set timeframe and budget.

Our management teams can investigate a number of different aspects in order to assess a construction plan to determine if the project can be built safely and structurally sound, but also looking at environmental/physical and geological factors. Drains and sewers are integral to managing the wastewater and surface water outputs generated by each home on a development. They prevent the cross-contamination of foul water with rainwater and minimise the risk of flooding. It is, therefore, vital that every new home is professionally fitted with the correct infrastructure to connect the property to the appropriate draining systems, including having separate drains for surface and wastewater.

M&J Evans specialises in the installation of drainage (including deep pipe laying), manhole construction, and wet-well installation that adhere to approved site plans as well as environmental requirements. We take care of everything from the excavation of draining trenches to laying the pipes that connect each home to highway sewers. As part of drainage layouts, we also install foul and storm pumping stations.

Roads and Surfacing

Fundamental to every project our road services are not limited to creating new roadways on residential developments, we are also qualified to carry out complete Section 278 works ensuring work is completed to local highway authority standards. Such schemes we have undertaken noted in more detail in the case study section of the website makes the necessary adjustments to existing highways, in order to manage traffic flow and connect new communities to local road networks. This includes the construction of roundabouts, priority junctions, cycle paths, curbs, and pavements.

Surfaces are integral to the completed look, feel, and efficiency of the infrastructure. We make sure the high-quality paving and surfacing services we provide our clients is fit for purpose as well as aesthetically pleasing. Whether it's tarmacking for a new road or car park, or block paving for a driveway or patio slabbing, each surface needs to stand up to the pressures of daily heavy usage.

Earthworks/Cut and Fill

The essential first stage in any new groundwork project, as it plays a vital role in preparing the ground for excavation works to begin. Its job is to strip away the top level of ground soil, including any trees or other vegetation. Using newly owned, modern and powerful excavating plant, including excavators, dozers and ADT’s, we make light work of enabling cut and fill works in site preparation readiness for our clients to get started on-site in a timely manner.   

As part of the earthworks stage our fully qualified in-house CAD team can quickly set about using a range of technology-aided surveying and monitoring techniques to extract real-time data about a client's land. We create a comprehensive picture of the site boundaries and geological makeup, bringing topography to life with computer-generated drawings and the help of GPS drones. All this data can then be used to help model the sites for-bid stage and tendering purpose, and being your groundworker of choice when starting on site we can load this info into our state-of-the-art technology GPS machines that help drive efficiency and accuracy of delivering our projects to client, safely, on time and within budget.
